Schipperke

The Schipperke, pronounced “Skip-er-key”, is an all around dog that has been used for guarding, hunting, herding, and even on boats. They are are small dogs that don’t seem to realize it. If you see Schipperke puppies for sale, you might want to consider buying one because they are one of the most dynamic breeds of dogs out there. They are a healthy breed as well, and usually live to be around 17 years old.

The Schipperke is a very smart dog. That being so, they have a tendency to be willful and independent. They are a fearless dog too; a result of their belief they are larger than they actually are. They can be stubborn and mischievous, but they only tend to wreak havoc when they are bored. When you see a Schipperke puppy for sale, you may want to start training it soon after you buy it. Early training should consist of establishing yourself as pack leader. This will prevent any future problems of the dog thinking is has run of the house.

Schipperke puppies for sale have small pointed ears and can have either single or double coats. They don’t need a lot of excessive grooming, just a weekly brushing, and they shed only moderately. The fluffiness of their coat occurs naturally as well. The dogs generally have black coats, but there are also different brown variations as well. The black is the only color recognized by the AKC though. Their tails are docked when they are born as well.

They might be difficult to house train, but if you have trained puppies before, you shouldn’t have as many problems as those who are house breaking for the first time since you have already learned through trial and error. The Schipperke are easy to live with if you give them rules to follow and stick with them. It is confusing to the dogs if they aren’t able to figure out what is an acceptable behavior and what is not. As long as you do your part and meet their needs, they can be a great family dog that will be with you for a long time.
